Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Police Trap #2 "Muster Room" Cover Original Art (Mainline Publications, 1954). For their own company's contribution to the crime genre Simon and Kirby wanted to capture what life was really like for the cop on the beat, and in the station house -- so for this cover Jack dug through his files and came up with a Robert Riggs magazine illustration (the actual page from Kirby's file is included with this lot) for inspiration, and reworked it. On the back of the magazine reference page was another Riggs illustration of a dismounted officer which Jack later used in an in-house ad. Prior to publication, this art was cut and a strip was added to lengthen the page. This has since been removed, and the image area returned to its' original size of 12" x 17". The title stat is a replacement piece, as is the caption lettering "Muster Room" on the bottom of the piece; otherwise, the art is in Very Good condition. Signed by both legendary artists on either side of the bottom of this spectacular piece.
