Jack Kirby and Bill Everett Thor #171 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1969). Thor is at the mercy of the Wrecker as the God of Thunder is restrained by the villain with his mystically-enchanted crowbar. A vertigo-inducing bird's-eye view of the combatants high above the skyscraper rooftops of the city as the art team of Kirby/Everett provide this powerful cover in ink over graphite on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning present. The stat logo/header and text are paste-ups, while the figures of Thor, Wrecker, and the top-left background are original art paste-ups. The piece also displays whiteout corrections with some paint chipping, staple and pinholes, notes in the top margin, tape in the corner box, edge tears, creasing, staining, and general edge/handling wear.
