DescriptionJack Gaughan - Worlds of IF, December, 1966 Cover Original Art (1966). Jack Gaughan's acrylic on board cover painting spotlights a dramatic scene from Larry Niven's novella, " A Relic of Space." In this classic "Known Space" yarn, Dr Richard Harvey Schulz-Mann, a Xenobiologist investigating the remnants of the Slaver Empire in the Mira Ceti is captured by a gang of cutthroat Jinxian space pilots. The "Known Space" series is a collection of stories with a common framework of future history. Ringworld, which won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards in the early 1970s is perhaps the most renowned of these stories. Four-time Hugo award winner, Jack Gaughan, was one of the finest SF artists of the last century. After his passing in 1985, Gaughan was honored by SF fandom, which instituted an award named after him, and it is presented each year to the best emerging artist. This sensational painting measures 16" x 20", and the art is in Excellent condition. A copy of the published cover is taped to the back of the art board. Don't miss out on the bidding for this scintillating SF cover!
