Description

Jack Davis Tales From The Crypt #29 Cover Original Art (EC, 1952). Jack Davis' manic art was perfect for EC's horror titles, and surprisingly equally fitting for MAD magazine. You have to admit he really hits the nail on the head with this coffin-banger of a pre-Code cover. The intensity of the gravedigger's expression is a perfect match to the insets of the three Horror Hosts. The twice-up scale cover art is actually at the larger end of cover sizes that EC worked with. The ink over graphite art, with the stat paste-up masthead and the stat paste-up insets, has an image area of 13.5" x 19.25". The Davis signature in the lower right is an original art paste-up. The toned board has a bit of glue residue near the inset paste-ups. In Very Good condition.
