DescriptionHerb Arnold - Original Cover Art for The Rim of the Unknown (Arkham House, 1972). This is an excellent piece of production art for the dust jacket of an anthology collection of Frank B. Long's pulp stories. The artist for this piece was very skilled. It appears that he layed down his own ink emulsion over a, largely, finished mask and then detailed it with a sharp instrument to create a scratch board effect. The solid black background of the image and bright white highlights create an interesting composition that is intricately rendered with the confidence of a fine artist. The amberlyth overlay is in excellent condition. This piece measures approximately 16.5" x 17.5". The actual image window measures 8" x 8.5".
