DescriptionHam Fisher - Original Cover Art for Joe Palooka #3 (Harvey, 1946). This skiing cover features Joe Palooka and two hot dames looking at a hot-shot heading towards his apparent doom by being skewered into a tree. This piece was drawn with the skier on the left and the tree on the right, while in the final printed version, the art was flipped so that the skier is on the right and the tree is on the left. Also, Joe Palooka was originally drawn coming out from behind the hill just in front of the girls. A piece of acetate has been used to hold the paste-up of the redrawn Joe to cover up the original Joe, and there is a new logo stat and "by Ham Fisher" stat. Overall this piece is in good condition. There is a significant amount of white-out on the drawings on the acetate, and there are the typical yellow glue stains where the stats were originally pasted. Overall, the piece measures approximately 10" x 15".
