    Description

Greg Irons - Slow Death #9 Cover Original Art (Last Gasp, 1977). The late Greg Irons turns in a powerful explosion cover for this environmentally-relevant Underground title. The graphic designs by Irons were among the best of the UG crowd; the strong use of black ink reflects his interest in the tribal tattoo art of the Far East. In fact, it was while Irons was visiting Thailand, studying the tattoo masters of Bangkok, that he stepped off a busy curb and was killed by oncoming traffic. At any rate, his work has a sense of power that comes across fully in this well-known piece, which measures approximately 14.5" x 20.5". A small amount of white-out has flaked off along the top right corner, above the dollar bill art, which reveals a few unused lines; otherwise this piece is in Excellent condition. Included with this lot is a copy of Slow Death #9.
