DescriptionGreg Irons Slow Death #8 Inside Front Cover Original Art (Last Gasp Eco-Funnies, 1977). For this special "Save the Whales/Greenpeace" issue of the seminal Underground Comix series, Irons delivered this haunting oversized full-pager, showing oceanic wildlife amidst the sunken wreckage of a sailing-ship. Serving double-duty as both an introductory page and a splash/prelude to Irons' ironically titled "The Honour & Glory of Whaling," the composition has the effect of a painting -- rendered not in paint but in textured inks and layers of Zipatone shading film (three distinct dot-patterns). Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with shading. The image area is 14" x 21". Light toning and one narrow wrinkle in the lower left quadrant. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
