DescriptionGreg Irons San Francisco Comic Book #3 Inside Front Cover Original Art (San Francisco Comic Book Co., 1970). Greg Irons is one of the great lost Underground Comix/Rock Poster artists. His life was cut short when, while in Bangkok, Thailand studying tattoo techniques, he was killed by an oncoming bus while crossing a street. His art style was uniquely his own, but he did much more than draw comics. He was even involved in one of the first "acid rock" bands, The Candymen, where he played bass; they opened for The Byrds in 1966. Here's a brief fragment of his talent, the inside front cover to Gary Arlington's third San Francisco Comic Book. The art is in ink over graphite with Zipatone shading film on paper, with an approximate image size of 9" x 12". Greg lists a virtual who's who of the UG comics community in his hand-written credits. A very nice piece, in Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
