Description

Greg Irons San Francisco Comic Book #2 Wraparound Cover Original Art (Print Mint, 1970). The late Greg Irons delivered a knock-out wraparound cover to this well-remembered Underground Comix anthology title. Irons, who was a talented tattoo and concert poster artist in addition to his comic book work, had a style uniquely his own; he also contributed to the animated Beatles film, Yellow Submarine. It was in 1984 while visiting Thailand to study tattoo art that he was tragically killed, struck by a bus while crossing a street. This cover piece, with its oddly combined cartoon characters frolicking with a nude, is drawn in ink over light blue pencil on two conjoined pieces of Bristol board, with an image area measuring 16" x 12". The condition is Very Good, with minor handling wear and board toning. From the Eric Sack Collection.
