Glen Orbik and Laurel Blechman Batman #568 Cover Original Art (DC Comics, 1999). A powerful homage to Virgil Finlay, a master of the pulp-fiction scene. Orbik and Blechman depict Batman and Poison Ivy in conflict with a monstrous Clayface for an episode of the "No Man's Land/Fruit of the Earth" serial. The composition evokes Finlay's famous 1940 cover rendering for Abraham G. Merritt's The Face in the Abyss, as seen in Famous Fantastic Mysteries magazine. Acrylics on Masonite. Image area, 14" x 23", framed to 16.5" x 25".
