DescriptionGill Fox Torchy #3 Cover Original Art (Quality, 1950). Torchy's turning heads, the Bride is turning red, and the Groom doesn't know he's dead! Beyond the amusing gag portrayed here, the actual rendering is absolutely stunning, with the intricate details of Torchy's dress, and the sultry pout of her mouth expertly fashioned by Fox, one of the top good-girl artists ever to put pen to paper. Torchy was originally created by Bill Ward in 1944 for a base newspaper while Ward was serving in the Armed Forces during World War II. Needless to say, Torchy covers are extremely rare; only one other is definitely known to exist, and to our knowledge, this is the only one that has been previously offered at public auction, making this a rare opportunity to acquire a classic and sexy piece of original art. This cover was created at twice-up scale in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 13.75" x 19.25". The logo and "You Can't Beat Nature!" header are stat paste-ups. The board is lightly toned with slight handling wear. In Very Good condition.
