DescriptionGil Kane Conan the Barbarian #12 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1971). Seven against one? No problem, if that "one" is Conan! Gil Kane delivers the goods with this stunning, action-packed cover featuring our favorite Cimmerian. Robert E. Howard's classic pulp hero was riding high in 1971, thanks to Marvel's monthly comic book, with art by fan-favorite Barry Smith. When Smith began having trouble meeting his deadlines, other artists stepped in, and Kane not only supplied this issue's cover art, he also contributed interior art for a back-up story, along with Tom Palmer and Bernie Wrightson. The cover is in ink over graphite and whiteout, drawn on a piece of Bristol that has been attached to a World Color artboard, with an overall image area of 10" x 15". The "Conan" masthead logo and small figure are original photostats; the "Marvel Comics Group" strip at the top with issue number and price is a recent replacement, as is "The Most Savage..." line at the bottom. Overall Very Good condition, with small stains and handling wear.
