Description

Gil Kane and Joe Sinnott Captain America #215 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1977). Wow! Could you ask for more characters on a cover? Thor, Iron Man, Sub-Mariner, Nick Fury (twice, as both Sgt. Fury and the eyepatch-wearing Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Adolf Hitler, the Red Skull, trusted partners Bucky Barnes and the Falcon, even a second image of Cap, riding his WWII-era motorcycle, with Bucky on board! And we're not done: the Black Panther, Spitfire, the Human Torch, a crying woman we will guess is Peggy Carter, and to the surprise of anyone who had the comic (since he was covered by a text box), the Vision. The two missing text boxes said "But NOW -- the grim question that TORMENTS the Star-Spangled Avenger: WHO IS STEVE ROGERS?" This issue, the first after Jack Kirby left the book, was a turning point for the series as Roy Thomas endeavored to clean up some inconsistencies in Captain America's origin and set the stage for new storylines. The art has an image area of approximately 9.75" x 15"; the masthead and logo are stats are modern replacements. In Excellent condition. One more time... Wow!
