Description

Gil Kane and Frank Giacoia Captain Marvel #24 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1973). This classic Marvel picture frame cover features a near full-body portrait of the titular Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) locked in a violent clash with Dr. Mynde, a villain making his first and only appearance in this issue. The artwork is rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an overall image area of 10" x 14.5". The main scene, caption, and title logo were cut out, positioned, and pasted down -- a common production practice at Marvel during this era. The piece shows toning, whiteout corrections, residue stains, tape over the corner box, and editorial notes/marks. Many of the paste-ups are coming loose but are all included. Overall, the piece is in Very Good condition.
