Description
George Wilson Classics Illustrated #133 "The Time Machine" Cover Original Art (Gilberton, 1956). This well-known comic book cover evokes many memories for long-time fans. It's from perhaps the best known and loved issue of Classics Illustrated, one the kids would happily read even though they weren't writing a book report! The gyroscope-like look of the Time Machine (a term coined by author H. G. Wells with the 1895 publication of his book) on this cover clearly inspired the 1960 movie version, directed by George Pal. This lovely painted cover, created by long-time Western Publishing artist George Wilson, is in oils/acrylics on illustration board, and has an approximate image area of 16" x 22.5". Other than a minor amount of handling wear, the painting is in Excellent condition. A copy of Classics Illustrated #133 is included with the art.More information about Wilson, George.
