DescriptionGene Day - SF Painting Original Art (undated). Gene Day's detailed acrylic on board painting combines the best of two SF realms, with a bit of "Star Wars" imagery combined with that of "Flash Gordon." But who is that intriguing green alien at the lower right? This work was done for an as-yet-unidentified project, possibly a fanzine. Gene Day was an artist who got his start in alternative Canadian comics. In 1974, he published the short-lived underground comic Out of the Depths. He also contributed to titles like Imagine, and Future Day. In the 1980s, Day went to work as an inker for Marvel and DC, working on such titles as Stars Wars, Star Trek, Marvel Two-In-One, Thor, and Master of Kung Fu. In 1982 Gene Day passed away, far too young, at the age of 31. In 1986, Renegade Press published Gene Day's Black Zeppelin. The image area of this painting is 12" x 15", and the art is in Excellent condition. This will make a treasured showpiece for a Gene Day fan.
