DescriptionGene Colan and Joe Sinnott Captain America #117 First Appearance of the Falcon Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1969). Marvel truly came of age with this issue of Captain America, which introduced their first mainstream African-American superhero (the earlier Black Panther was from the fictional African nation Wakanda). The Falcon, aka Samuel Wilson, joins forces with Cap to form a long-running partnership, before eventually becoming an Avenger. The art is in ink and graphite on World Color Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15"; the type blurb over the Falcon's head is a recent replacement. Note that Cap's image differs slightly from the published comic, with his head moved up, clipping the lower portion of the "A" in the title logo, a change made during production (a color copy of the printed cover is included for comparison). Overall Very Good condition. Signed by inker Sinnott in the lower right. With the Falcon being a major character in the upcoming movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this cover art is smokin' hot!
