Frank Thorne Red Sonja #3 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1977). Red Sonja stands before a queen in transformation, as Queen Sortilej's deadly beauty gives way to spider limbs and predatory menace. Frank Thorne gives the cover its old pulp electricity, with the arena crowd pressed close and the Games of Gita poised between royal pageant and execution. The image has silk, steel, venom, and the hard instant before blood hits sand. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 16.5". Slight toning, loose acetate overlay with modern reproduction stat logo, header, and text paste-ups, pinholes in the margins, trimmed edges, light residue staining, with creasing and edge/handling wear.
