Description

Frank Stack Jesus Comics #3 Back Cover Original Art (Rip Off Press, 1972). Stack's satirical take on the Second Coming finds a returned Jesus announcing his arrival to two black hipsters, who prove incredulous. Stack had anticipated the Underground Comix movement during the 1960s and then became an influential and prolific contributor to the maverick-comics scene. He produced much of the series under the pen-name of Foolbert Sturgeon while pursuing a parallel career as a distinguished professor of fine art. Ink and white-paint shading over graphite on illustration board, with an image area of 6.5" x 9.5". Toned, with marginal adhesive residue. Very Good condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
