Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Daredevil #165 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1980). The earliest Frank Miller cover ever offered by Heritage! Never before on the market, this is the first time this piece has been available to the public. Frank Miller had only worked for Marvel a little over a year when he created this cover with Klaus Janson showing Daredevil acrobatically evading the mechanical arms of Doctor Octopus... giving fans four-times-as-much of the Man Without Fear. Miller is known for his cinematic storytelling, and this is a perfect example of how the talented artist is able to capture motion in two-dimensions. We even get a small taste of Miller's pencils, as some of his lines/shading remain in the image and margins. Already a rare commodity, a Miller cover from this early in his career is a true treasure! Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Tanning, pinhole in the top margin, 1" tear on the lower right side edge into the image area, whiteout corrections/touch-ups, tape/abrasion on the back top edge, with light staining, creasing, and smudging handling wear.
