Description
Frank Miller and Bob Wiacek Spectacular Spider-Man #56 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1981). This blockbuster by Frank Miller is, to our mind, one of the finest images the 1980s superstar ever drew of Marvel's #1 superhero, and this piece comes right in the middle of Miller's famed Daredevil run. This dramatic cover is all art with no stats or paste-ups other than the logo and corner box art (and these are all original production stats); the unusual background webbing was created by scratching them out from the ink. It's always a pleasure to see such a bold, black cover image with so much ink -- especially a prominent face-off between hero and baddie (in this case, Jack O'Lantern). Vintage Miller covers are always hot and very scarce these days -- particularly top titles like this. The art is in ink and graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 9.75" x 15".
