Frank Brunner The Man-Thing #1 Cover Re-Creation Original Art (2008). The breakthrough of Marvel Comics' Man-Thing franchise came about after a run of backup stories and guest appearances dating from 1971. Brunner established himself as the decisive Man-Thing artist, refining a character design that Gray Morrow had based upon the creature concept from a 1958 movie, I Married a Monster from Outer Space. Here, Brunner delivers a loyal revamp of his definitive Man-Thing cover (1974), embellished with his signature, and that of original plotter Roy Thomas. Brunner also supplies a notation of provenance on the reverse. Ink and watercolors over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 17.5", matted out to 17.25" x 22.5". Excellent condition.
