Ernie Colón Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld #1 Cover Original Art (DC, 1983). A bold and striking image of Amethyst in the foreground with a huge face of the evil Dark Opal in the background. When printed, DC used a color-hold on the background to make it all light blue. The result was that the full-color image of Amethyst really popped off the page at the reader! Opal's left eye (on the right side of the page) is a stat of his right eye, and Amethyst's flowing hair is an original art paste-up. The original art was created in ink over graphite on 11" x 16.75" Bristol board, and is signed on the lower left of the image area above the UPC box. After the fact, someone has added a section of board to the top and affixed a low-res reproduction of the DC bullet, logo, and all header dressing, directly affixed to the toned artboard. In Very Good condition.
