DescriptionErnie Chan (as Ernie Chua) Secret Society of Super-Villains #1 Cover Original Art (DC, 1976). Captain Cold and Gorilla Grodd are familiar to TV viewers of today with their appearances on The Flash TV show, and they're joined by the Mirror Master, Sinestro, and making her very first appearance, a new incarnation of Star Sapphire. The Flash, Green Lantern, and Batman, or rather their robot doubles, play the victim role. Remember, a series starring villains as the heroes was a novel idea at the time! There's one minor difference to the published cover as more of Captain Cold's body is seen in the printed version. Signed at the lower right. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". An overlay with the stat elements has been added, though note that the original DC logo and Comics Code stats are included. Minor creasing at the edges, and there's a hole through the art in the area where the cover price goes (as noted in the fan press at the time, the issue was originally slated for a December, 1975 release date when prices were still 25¢, before being moved to February, 1976). Very Good condition. A copy of the comic is included with the lot.
