Ernie Chan and John Calnan World's Finest #235 Cover Superman and Batman Original Art (DC, 1976). Superman's not really losing his head on this cover, it's just a doll. The scene takes place on the first page of the story. Batman does witness it... sort of... as Bruce Wayne is in attendance for the business meeting. An iconic and classic cover crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The head and logo are all the original stat. Superman's head is a taped-on stat, as a note on the bottom margin from Murray Boltinoff (editor) to Jack C. Harris (assistant editor) indicates Boltinoff asked that the Man of Steel's head be enlarged for the final cover. Some of the original head art can be seen under the edge of the paste-up. There is glue residue and an abrasion in the "neck space" from the correction. Overall the cover is in Very Good condition. Signed by John Calnan on the backside.
