DescriptionDoug Beekman Conan the Savage #2 Cover Painting Original Art (Marvel, 1995). Conan is a Pit Fighter in the story "Jobber" for this issue. This intense cover painting depicts a barbarian who takes his work very, very seriously. Beekman is a well-known, fan-favorite cover artist. His paintings are powerful and bold. From the bloody sword, to Conan's menacing dead-eyed stare, to the subtle skull and snakes in the background flames, this cover means business!
Beekman titled the story "Wiped Out" originally. He had trouble with the original varnish on this piece, which bubbled up. After the image was published, he reworked/repaired it to its current state. Produced in oil on 18" x 24" canvas board, it is signed in the lower edge. There is a quarter-inch of glue residue around the outside edges, from a previous framing. Overall in Excellent condition.
