Description

Don Heck Weird Terror #11 Cover Original Art (Comic Media, 1954). This amazing and ghoulish cover was published during the height of the 1950s "Horror Comics" craze. Remarkably, it is the only known surviving original pre-Code horror cover by Heck, having made its way into Roger Hill's collection directly from the artist's estate.
The huge twice-up cover piece was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 14" x 21". All text on the cover are stat paste-ups. The logo and cover caption box (and possibly others) are modern-day replacements. There is a slit in the board around the main figure's head which allowed the original logo to slide behind it. (Slit taped shut on the reverse side.) The toned board has a corner trim on the lower right margin, and is in Very Good condition.
