DescriptionDick Sprang Batman #47 "The Origin of Batman" Cover Re-Creation (After Bob Kane) Original Art (1997). This landmark 1948 issue featured the first detailed origin and first Bat-signal cover for the title. Eagle-eyed fans will note that Dick Sprang has modernized Bob Kane's original Batmobile and Batplane using his own streamlined designs. Many "old-school" Bat-fans still consider Dick Sprang the best artist ever to portray the Caped Crusader during the 1940s and '50s, and this magnificent reprise of Bob Kane's cover montage proved he hadn't lost his touch later in life. Rendered in mixed media, this piece has an image area of 13" x 18", and is in Excellent condition.
