Dave Stevens World of Wood #1 Cover Original Art (Eclipse, 1986). Dave Stevens' wonderful homage to Wally Wood was a perfect blend of Wood-type characters and Stevens' own lovely linework. Of course, Wood and Stevens are both near the top of virtually every comic art collector's pantheon of greats, so the combination couldn't be more desirable. Such classic, mid-eighties Stevens good-girl covers are virtually non-existent on the market. And this stunning example has never before been offered at auction, having resided in the same collection for decades. In fact, this image was so popular that it was also featured as one of the much-loved Dave Stevens poster series. The original art was created in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.5", matted to an overall 13" x 18.25". There are light abrasions in the upper left and right corners from missing paste-up trade dressing.
