Description

Dave Gibbons Historic Watchmen #1 "Bloody Smiley Face/Doomsday Clock" Cover Original Art (DC, 1986). "At midnight, all the agents and superhuman crew go out and round up everyone who knows more than they do." -- Desolation Row by Bob Dylan. Here is the historic, iconic cover image that kicked off a revolution in comics history: Gibbons' opening shot of the Comedian's bloody badge, which doubled as a "smiley face/doomsday clock," for writer Alan Moore's classic take on the superhero genre in "At midnight, All the agents." Widely considered to be one of the greatest stories in modern comics history, this issue featured the first appearances of the now-legendary Rorschach, Ozymandias, Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre, and Nite Owl, as well as the shocking death of the antihero the Comedian. This DC masterwork has an image area of 10" x 15", and the art is in Excellent condition. From the Shamus Modern Masterworks Collection.
