Description

Dave Cockrum X-Men #98 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1976). The "All-New/All-Different" X-Men had just taken over from the reprints of the original X-Men just four issues before. So this is a very early appearance for Storm, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. Although he pre-dated this class by just a few years, this is also a very early appearance of Wolverine, who did not even make the covers of Issues 94, 95, or 97! Combine that with definitive team member Cyclops and some quintessential bad guys, the Sentinels, and you get one fine action-packed cover! It was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Signed by Cockrum on the mid-right edge of the image area. The cover features a paste-up logo and masthead dressing, as well as the lower text caption. There is considerable whiteout art correction on the toned board. There is also rippling in the margins, signs of moisture contact and possible mild water staining. It is matted to 16" x 21.25" and in Very Good condition.
