DescriptionDave Cockrum Adventure Comics #467 and Green Lantern #136 Cover Original Art (DC, 1980-81). The two halves of this piece ended up seeing print in two different places. The right side was used on Adventure Comics #467. A year later, the Adam Strange figure on the left side was cropped out, flopped over, and used on the cover of Green Lantern #136. Now, as to what this was intended for originally: the top margin notes it as for "Strange Adventures (or whatever it's called) #1". The Comic Reader #170 reported that Plastic Man needed a home when a planned anthology comic was cancelled "because the live-action Plastic Man show had been picked up by ABC for Saturday mornings in the interim. So, another 40-cent monthly title was proposed with Adam Strange as the lead feature ... then it was decided that Adventure Comics would go back down to 40 cents" with Plastic Man as the backup and Starman as the lead feature, with Adam Strange remaining in limbo for a while. Got all of that? By the way, we should mention that the Adam Strange half pays homage to Carmine Infantino's cover for Mystery in Space #90. This original art is signed by Cockrum in the UPC box in the bottom left. Produced in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The cover is tanned with edge/corner wear, and pinholes in the top margin. There is a 3" rip in the right side that has been professionally mended. Overall it is in Good condition and would frame up nicely flanked by a copy of each issue.
