Description

Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson Action Comics #380 Cover Original Art (DC, 1969). Heralding a transitional issue while en route to DC's Bronze Age evolution of 1970-1985, this unconventional cover design finds old-school editor Mort Weisinger still in charge while a darker-than-Mort conception of Superman edges in. The brooding pose depicts a series of shocking confessions to crimes against humanity - how will Superman get out of this predicament? Autographed (post-publication) by Swan and Anderson, this bold collaboration foreshadows a more decisive teaming of the artists on Superman-series stories to come. Ink over graphite and blue pencil on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, missing logo/header paste-up, hand-lettered title and text paste-ups, trimmed top/bottom edges, whiteout corrections, tape along the back edges, with residue staining and creasing/handling wear. In Very Good condition.
