Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #55 Partial Cover Original Art (Harvey Comics, 1955). Creator Young is here in spirit, what with the Blondie-Dagwood franchise having been assigned to various ghosts during a long run at Harvey Comics. Dagwood Bumstead's misadventures in the funnybooks are notably more violent than anything he experienced in the famous newspaper strip. This fragmentary cover walks a fine line between slapstick comedy and mortal peril. Though significantly trimmed, the piece represents the entire image -- the upper portion having contained a pre-printed logotype. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 7.25" x 9". Light toning and one white-painted correction. Excellent condition.Auction Info
