Édité par Art Spiegelman et Françoise Mouly et publié aux États-Unis par Mouly de 1980 à 1991 le magazine Raw est probablement l'une des publications majeure, phare du mouvement de la bande dessinée alternative des années 1980. Certains la voient comme le contrepoint plus intellectuel au périodique Weirdo dirigé par Robert Crumb, périodique plus viscéral ! Nous nous situons dans la pure tradition de l'underground. Avec le magazine Heavy Metal, c'était l'une des principales éditions de la bande dessinée européenne distribuée aux États-Unis. Le premier volume regroupait 8 numéros (1980-1986). Le deuxième 3 numéros (1989-1991). À ce niveau on ne parle plus de rare, mais d'exceptionnelle, unique opportunité. Observateur caustique de l'Amérique profonde et de la jeune génération Charles Burns nous présente au travers de la puissance de son art graphique une des images les plus emblématique du Comics Underground. Edited by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly and published in the United States by Mouly from 1980 to 1991, Raw magazine is probably one of the major publications, flagship of the alternative comics movement of the 1980s. Some see it as more intellectual counterpoint to the periodical Weirdo directed by Robert Crumb, more visceral! We are in the pure tradition of the underground.
