Carmine Infantino Batman #167 Cover Recreation Original Art (c. 1990s). Carmine Infantino made a mark on DC Comics from early on. His "New Look" design for Batman, introduced just months before this issue, was the first step in bringing the Dark Knight back into the light of pop-culture. It was still two years before Batmania would explode all over the TV scene; however, DC was already making efforts to re-invigorate the Batman titles after seeing the success of their other revitalized Silver Age characters. Two of the greatest artists of DC's Silver Age, Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson, teamed up to give us the original cover for this "spy-thriller" issue. Here, Carmine Infantino expertly recreates the image by himself in ink and watercolor on bright white Bristol board with an image area of 14" x 20.75". It is actually drawn on the backside of DC "Batman Sunday Strip" stock (Infantino drew the Batman strip in the 1990s). This piece is signed by the former Publisher for DC Comics in the lower right image area. In Excellent condition.
