DescriptionCarl Potts New Mutants #63 Cover Painting Original Art (Marvel, 1988). This eyecatching piece of work has a fascinating back-story to it. The depth of the piece is achieved by producing it as a series of painted layers cut and mounted together. Potts had produced a very similar piece before being hired as an editor for Marvel Comics. He hung a print of it next to his desk, where Chris Claremont saw the work and told Potts if he would alter the space creature on the female's shoulder to look like Lockheed, Claremont would write a New Mutants story around the artwork and use it for the cover. This is mixed media and UV Plexiglas front framed with an inner mat opening of 14" x 18.5". The covers are bright and vibrant and it is in Excellent condition.
