    Description

Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge #69 Cover Original Art (Gold Key, 1967). Very few Barks covers have survived, and we dare say it will be news to many a Barks collector that this one is among them! Uncle Scrooge is the swingin' "Cattle King" on this high-flying cover with a Western theme. Donald Duck and the nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie are in the helicopter. The piece was purchased by Bill Cole directly from Barks, and is signed and inscribed in the lower margin. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with a matted image area of 9" x 13.5". Glass front framed to 12.75" x 16.75". The board is toned and in Very Good condition. From the Personal Collection of Bill Cole.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
