Brandon Peterson and Dan Panosian X-Men #21 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1993). Psylocke's controversial body swap -- from British beauty to ninja assassin -- gets even more confusing when her original body resurfaces, alive and well, under a new persona: Revanche, making her first of only three cover appearances right here! Fans were invited to join the "Puzzle Quest" to unravel the mystery of which Psylocke was the real deal, but let's clear it up as best we can: the psychic-knife-wielding ninja is Betsy Braddock (the original Psylocke), whose persona is trapped in the assassin Kwannon's body, while the curly-haired, psychic-sword-wielding mutant is Kwannon, now inhabiting Betsy's original body. Confused yet? Don't worry too much -- Marvel finally swapped them back into their rightful bodies in 2019, with British Betsy taking on the mantle of Captain Britain while Kwannon continued on as Psylocke. Back in 1993, however, the duo's first adventure together was alongside Gambit. This monumental mutant moment is rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Slight toning, a paper overlay taped at the top with a text box illustration/notes, stat logo/header, text, and signature box, residue stains, and light handling wear.
