DescriptionBoris Vallejo - "Cyborg: The Six Million Dollar Man" Paperback Cover Painting Original Art (Ballantine Books, 1978). Based upon the Martin Caidin novel Cyborg, the seventies Universal/ABC TV series featured Colonel Steve Austin, astronaut and test pilot, who was badly injured when he crashed while testing an experimental aircraft. A covert government agency, the OSI, was ready to pay for special prosthetics to replace the eye, arm and both legs that Austin lost in the crash. It would cost $6,000,000 to rebuild Steve Austin. Highly advanced technology dubbed "bionics" that could be built into the replacement parts would make Austin faster and stronger than normal. In return for this work, the OSI recruits Austin to serve as a covert agent for the OSI. Boris' iconic painting of this TV and science fiction fan-favorite has an image area of 17.25" x 26". The art has been professionally framed, and is in Excellent condition.
