Description

Bob Hall Beyond the Grave #4 Cover Original Art (Charlton, 1976). Charlton takes a cue from big-time DC Comics' campaign to challenge the censor-driven Comics Code Authority: Hall's dynamic composition confronts three adventurous youths with the master of "The Devil's House" (title of the issue's related story). Editor Joe Orlando's newer cover formula at DC's House of Mystery was to depict young people, endangered by supernatural menaces -- the tactic worked for Charlton, too. Laid out with a deep-perspective effect to heighten the air of dread and disorientation, the drawing contains ink over graphite on Bristol board, measuring 10" x 15". Lightly toned, light adhesive seams around the logotype and a glue-stained insert box at upper left. Otherwise in Very Good condition.
