Description

Bill (Will) Elder Humbug #3 Marilyn Monroe/Lawrence Olivier Parody Cover Original Art (Humbug Publications, 1957). Humbug was Harvey Kurtzman's post-MAD creation and it used many of the Usual Gang of Idiots, such as "Wild Bill" Elder. This Good Conduct medal cover, featuring a swipe of a movie poster of The Prince and the Showgirl (Marilyn Monroe and Sir Laurence Olivier) was produced in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 10.75" x 16.5". Signed by Elder in the lower right of the image area, and then personalized and signed again in the lower right margin. The logo is a hand-drawn paste-up, and the text ring on the medal is a printed stat paste-up. In Very Good condition.
