Bill Griffith Zippy Stories Cover Original Art (Last Gasp, 1984). Bill Griffith's microcephalic character Zippy was noted by the late comedian Robin Williams as "a word processor with dyslexia," and Zippy's strange catchphrases like "Am I having fun yet" have made him a fan favorite, not only in Underground Comix but in the nationally syndicated comic strip distributed by King Features. The nutty clown from Dingburg happily inhabits this cover illustration to an anthology of Zippy stories, which stretches back to his first appearance in Real Pulp #1 (1971). This cover art is in ink over graphite with little color codes in blue pencil (within the "nuts and bolts" background elements) on Bristol board. The image area measures approximately 11.5" x 15.75". Other than some minor handling wear in the outer borders, the art is in Excellent condition. This cover art was featured on page 78 in the book, Underground Classics: The Transformation of Comics Into Comix by James Danky and Denis Kitchen and was a part of the "Underground Classics" exhibition at the Chazen Museum of Art in 2009.
