Description

Bill Elder Cracked #10 Cover Brigitte Bardot Original Art (Major Publ., 1959). This one is all it's cracked up to be, and then some: Playing off French movie star Brigitte Bardot's then-notorious series of bath-towel photographs, MAD veteran Elder pictures an indignant Bardot, posed and exposed in a shower-stall amidst a cracked (!) building. Laden with incidental visual gags (what Elder called "chicken fat" or "eye-pops" details), the 12.75" x 16" composition anticipates the voluptuary work that Elder would do during the 1960s for Harvey Kurtzman's HELP! magazine and their collaborative Little Annie Fanny feature at Playboy. Signed as "W.E." (Will Elder) at lower left. Moisture damage, marginal staining, and foxing, with delicate restorative touches including a nicely retouched logotype. Very Good condition.
