In the novel Tarzan of the Apes, Kerchak is the "king" of a tribal band of Mangani, a fictional species of Great Ape, intermediate between real life chimpanzees and gorillas. When Tarzan reaches adulthood, he fights and kills Kerchak and succeeds him as King of the Apes. This gorgeous painted cover for the Mexican edition of Tarzan has an Image area of 10" x 14" and aside from surface paint loss in several sections of the art, it's in Very Good condition.
