    Description

Bernie Wrightson Tower of Shadows #9 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1971). Bernie Wrightson's fourth published Marvel Comics work! This short-lived horror anthology went out with a bang, as this was the cover for the last issue. A fantastic interpretation from the story "Pickman's Model", which was an adaptation of the original H.P. Lovecraft short story. By the way, the fellow wearing shorts is a dead ringer for Mr. Wrightson himself. The cover was (Love)crafted in ink over graphite on World Color cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The logo, corner box, and all header info are a printed paste-up held on with production tape. The word balloon and lower caption box are hand-lettered paste-ups. Signed by Wrightson in the lower right and dated 1970 (the issue was cover dated January 1971, but likely hit the stands in November of 1970). Toned, with some glue residue near the paste-ups. In Very Good condition.
