    Description

Bernie Wrightson Swamp Thing #6 Cover Original Art (DC, 1973). The defender of the Green finds himself attacked by an automaton created by Mayor Hans Klochmann on this fantastic cover with both macabre and '50s sci-fi overtones. Unlike any other character from DC at the time... one swampy foot firmly planted in horror, the other in adventure/super-hero genres, Swamp Thing would build a fan following for decades to come that would spawn a cartoon, a movie, action figures, and be the flagship title for DC's Vertigo imprint. Character co-creator Len Wein penned the tale "A Clockwork Horror" for this issue, and all the art is pure Wrightson magic! Ink over graphite on DC Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Glass front framed to 13" x 18.5". The logo and DC bullet are printed paste-up. The paste-up Wrightson signature in the bottom right is missing, leaving a bit of glue residue and just the "3" from the stylized '73 date. Some slight toning; Very Good condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
