Description

Bernie Wrightson DC Special Series #2 Swamp Thing Wraparound Cover Original Art (DC, 1977). An incredible wraparound cover featuring the muck-monster and scores of twisted little Un-Men against a background of bare trees. Created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, the humanoid/plant hybrid Swamp Thing made quite a "splash" in 1972 (or 1971, if you count the "Alex Olsen" version that appeared in House of Secrets #92). Many fans consider the original first ten issues of Swamp Thing as the best of all Wrightson's comic book work. Bernie revisited the character for this 1977 comic that reprinted the first two issues. It's quite an image, rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 20" x 15". There are yellowed stains in the lower left corner and to the right of Swamp Thing, plus a small paper abrasion that partially obscures the date under Wrightson's name, with handling wear in the outer borders, but none of these concerns keep this piece from looking less than stellar. Overall Very Good condition.
