DescriptionBattle Action #30 Cover Original Art (Atlas, 1957). This gripping Korean War scene for the cover of the last issue of the Atlas war comic, based on Gene Colan's lead story "Reds All Around Us," has been variously credited to Colan himself, Fred Kida, Russ Heath, and Sol Brodsky - or some combination thereof, as it's very possible that it was penciled and inked by different artists. Timely/Atlas expert Michael Vasalio credits the cover as Fred Kida pencils and Carl Burgos inks, which looks to us like a likely attribution, but we haven't been able to come up with a firm consensus. No matter the artists, such a dramatic Atlas war cover is quite a scarce prize. The story title paste-up is missing, along with issue number and price, and the title logo photostat has a scrape; otherwise, this 13" x 20" art is in Very Good condition.
